This is belated; but I think this is beautiful! I really love the way you've captured the kangaroo face. This is going to sound strange, but I feel a lot of people who try to capture kangaroo faces outside of Australia (are you outside Australia? Otherwise this is going to be a weird comment, lol), tend to make them look to 'placental mammalian,' like a deer or something, when they are really distinct and have their own shape. I really think you nailed the macropod face and it just makes me love the illustration even more.
I am in california, though Australia is definitely a place I'd love to take an extended vacation or even live for a year or so. I try to make sure I do my research- in this case I did a page of kangaroo feet studies and then a couple of their faces, because they definitely have a unique facial structure, and for something like this, where I'm trying to get something of the animal's spirit on the page, I really wanted those parts to be accurate.
And I'd be lying if I didn't mention that your work definitely provided some inspiration for it, though I lack your experience with allowing the animal to completely guide color and composition selection, I tried to relax a bit and let that happen as much as I could. It was a very cool experience- usually after an illustration like that I am worn out, but this seemed to lend me additional energy, instead.
