My roommate Eira is a trans woman. We get into conversations about trans stuff and often end up remembering things about our individual pasts that relate back to me being a guy or her being a chick.
Today the subject of being kicked in the crotch came up.
She pointed to a specific instance in soccer where she got accidentally kicked in the crotch. Twice, even. Coach was understandably concerned, but Eira didn't feel injured beyond, 'well, I just got kicked, so that sucks'.
I, on the other hand, always had the instinctual bent double, clutching where it hurts reaction. I may not have experienced the same physical pain, but the panic button in the brain definitely went off, and the response was automatic. It would have felt very strange not to react that way.

Erf, a couple people over on the ftm community got a little up in arms like how dare I read so much into this, it's like saying that guys are their penises. *facepalm* It certainly wasn't meant to be anything more than a lighthearted 'share your experience with this' kind of thing over there. 0_o
