chorus triumphant

replacementpartsSo. I got my shot. Angels did not come out of the sky and sing chorus triumphant. Which is I suppose to say that the shot itself and the immediate afterwards were not in themselves particularly exciting.
What is exciting is the fact that it has begun, that changes, albeit invisible for the moment, can now start to happen. In my imagination, the skin on my face is a tiny bit coarser- not from hair growth of course, I hold no delusions there, but just... coarser skin. In my imagination.
I guess the biggest difference at this point is a shift in my perspective of myself. I've always seen myself as more male than female, but suddenly I feel much more validated in that regard. Sitting between two random guys on the bus yesterday, I felt less different from them. Still all in my head, but it feels like a pretty huge difference to me. Feels good.

I have to wait two whole weeks for the next one. I think after that they might bump up the dosage a little bit, but I forgot to ask how that's going to go. The lady (Daphne?) who did the injection said she'd be happy to teach me and/or Edwin how to do it so I don't have to go in to the clinic every time, which is pretty cool too.

on 2010-06-05 07:14 pm (UTC)Don't feel pressured into sharing all your transition details with everybody; sometimes people are pretty intrusive about this and you don't realize until you're in the middle of it and start noticing how people perceive you (as some kind of interesting phenomenon body-wise, and not as a person anymore).
But I know how you feel, been there, and it's awesome. :)
